Always tired?
Feeling flat?
No motivation?
Brain fog?
Shutting down?
If a few of these sound familiar, your system may not need more calming. It may need a little help coming back online.
Why this happens ↓
Nervous system state
Lower energy
Stress doesn’t always look stressed
Sometimes pressure makes us faster, more anxious and more activated.
Other times, we go the opposite way. Everything slows down. Motivation disappears. Thinking feels foggy and even simple things can require more effort.
Faster, tense, restless
Slower, foggy, disconnected

Soma Circuit calls this state Flat. It is not a diagnosis. It is simply a useful description of how your system feels right now.
More relaxation isn’t always the first step
When you already feel slowed down, foggy or disconnected, becoming even calmer may not be what your system needs first.
Sometimes the first step is a little gentle activation.
That might mean standing up, stretching, walking, noticing the room around you, using rhythm, moving with music, stepping outside, or doing something that helps you feel slightly more present.
The activation should stay gentle.
The goal is not to force yourself from exhausted to highly energised. It may simply be to feel 5% more awake, connected or present.

5%
more awake is enough
You don’t need to feel amazing.
Sometimes more energy shows up before calm does
As you begin to come out of a very low-energy or shut-down state, you may sometimes notice a little more activation.
That can feel like restlessness, tension, emotion or simply having more energy available.
For some people, this can be part of moving towards a more engaged state. It does not necessarily mean anything has gone wrong.
The important thing is not to keep pushing the activation higher.
Once more energy is available, the next step may be to release some of the tension, ground, slow down and give the body more time to settle.
- Gently activate
- Connect
- Release
- Ground
- Settle
- Slower breathing
- Relax / rest
- Steady
Flat regulation may sometimes need a longer, slower and more deliberate process than an Overwhelmed state.

That is why Soma Circuit does not automatically give everyone another calming exercise.
First, you choose how you feel.

Sometimes you need help coming back online.
